Are Politcians Getting Out of Hand
at 08:12 14 Aug 2019

They are completely unfit for the responsibilities they have, but the circumstances that have caused this are cultural, endemic and have been a long time in the making.

You could be right chekks. I think SG prefers 3-5-2, but I'm happy to be proved wrong!

BBTRR

that also looks entirely plausible to me.

Nuttall got a knock in training.

It looks more like 3-5-2 to me.

I think that's unfair chekks.

Matheson has been campaigning on this issue for quite a long while now. Marsden is the latecomer to the party.

I think BASIL was formed around about 1976, and was preceded by Blackpool Fans In the South. But it was before my time so the dates might be a bit out. I'm a mere stripling, having joined in 1990.

It's a complete and utter shambles.

Quite apart from the impact on Bolton fans, it's not fair on Coventry fans who might be planning to go to this game.

We should find out (allegedly) who the preferred bidder for the hotel is tomorrow. If its not FV, there will be further ructions.

Plymouth (or Bury South, as it is now known) have nicked the Shakers' best players chekks.

Still looking decidedly iffy at Bolton as well. The fans are very worried that FV don't have the wherewithal to complete the takeover, or if they do, won't be able to sustain it.

For automatic promotion I always work on the premise that 83/84 may be enough, 87/88 will be.

I would be very happy with 11 or more from those fixtures, I think, not least because I think we will take time to establish a rhythm.

I'd love us to win automatic promotion at home. I've never seen it, and I have a suspicion nobody under age 90 or so will have done either.

It's a bit of a novelty for us to start well. What would you think would be a reasonable target for the fist six games ?

What we have is :

Southend (a)
Oxford (h)
Gillingham (a)
Rochdale (a)
Portsmouth (h)

I think all of those look winnable on paper, and apart from Pompey you'd be a bit surprised if any of them do well this season. But life doesn't always follow form.

I'm hoping for more than ten points from them. No expectations though, it's too early.

No Jane, not as things stand. I like it here, my missus considers herself a London girl. And I've now lived here longer than I did at home.

Never say never and all that.... but no, not likely.

Back on the treadmill today with 16,000 steps in the bag.

It's about twenty degrees cooler than it was in the middle of last week, and there was a nice breeze in the park. Very enjoyable.

It is a zoo, and I'm not sure what the answer is. I had my own approach when I was a moderator ; you saw how well that went down in some quarters.

I'm not sure which "better fan brigade" you mean ; I'be been accused of being a foot soldier for them more than once!

As for being "inside", well, I'm a Member, I make my views known when I can and I do help out with various things, so maybe I do have a rosy view of the people in charge. But they are elected by their peers, so people have an opportunity to express their view of them very soon. And anyone who wants to "hijack" the Trust has to go down the same democratic route.

So I'm maybe a bit more sanguine about it than you. If for any reason the majority of the current Committee were not around after October, I might have a different view.

I meant the "fan on the board" issue. But I think it is very much of secondary importance now, for reasons I have set out elsewhere.

Rott's latest post is fair, I think. But I see no evidence that the level of challenge to the club will drop, where it is needed. By and large they (the club) are doing positive things for positive reasons at the moment. I feel the Trust needs to be supportive of that and keep its powder dry for any time that comes where it is no longer the case.

I disagree with both of you, on balance. But for me it is a side issue, and how it gets resolved is not nearly as important as the question of how Trust and club work towards common objectives. And, indeed, what those objectives are.

There is a lot of stuff being said at the moment about the Trust re-inventing itself, which is partially right. But it is better described as being about the Trust's place in the local and national community it is part of that counts for me.

I've said a few things on t'other side, but one or two just seem to think I'm being provocative for the sake of it. I'm not.

I don't know whether I mentioned these already, but "Something Happened" OR "Good as Gold" by Joseph Heller are both excellent.
