Starmer has apparently said that the investigation does not preclude disciplinary action against those accused in the report. There was an NEC meeting to discuss it. You can't just simply pass it off as a Corbynite conspiracy.

A bunch of factional cranks in Labour HQ apparently thought anyone to the left of Brown was a Trot. This is the type of culture embedded in Labour, not to mention the alleged bullying and abuse. And no, I'm not a "Corbynite" or any other "ite". Until this culture is eradicated, Labour will continue to be irrelevant.

Amnesty write to Premier League about Newcastle's Takeover
at 19:01 21 Apr 2020

Amnesty International have written to the Premier League expressing concern over Newcastle's takeover by a Saudi-backed consortium.

I've said before how uncomfortable I'd be if something like that were to happen to our club. Newcastle fans on Twitter now have the Saudi flag in their handles ffs. How easily football can take precedence over human rights.

The amount of factions operating in Labour has always puzzled me. Labour First, Fabians, Progress, the SCG, Labour Together, Blue Labour, Open Labour, the list goes on

Well that's one way of looking at it, but I stand corrected on the Watson thing. There was an excerpt doing the rounds on Twitter but obviously it seems it was used to create a narrative. In any case, there's going to be an investigation into the investigation itself. What a farce.

How can he say it's a "last-ditch attempt to deflect and discredit allegations of anti-Semitism" when the report shows that anti-Semitism was a problem?

Does he think the report is part of a conspiracy to make Corbyn look good then? Despite the 10,000 emails detailing abuse of MPs, staff, and members, and a hyper-factional effort to apparently undermine complaints procedures along with the 2017 election campaign?

Anti-Semitism in Labour is real, but it seems it was used as a political football in a factional war between party HQ and Corbyn's office. This report shows that it was an issue pre-Corbyn and wasn't dealt with by the general secretary who remained in his position until 2018. This guy was allegedly part of the faction that attempted to sabotage the 2017 election campaign.

It seems to me that the report wasn't submitted because it was intended to be an appendix. And presumably the people who were implicated in the abuse are still active at party HQ, hence their reason for not wanting the report published.

Some of the stuff in the report about Labour members and MPs was absolutely abhorrent.

A few MPs on Twitter now speaking out about it.

It seems to me that this faction was the main problem. They were determined to sabotage his leadership from day one. There was similar hostility to Miliband if I recall, but it was never to this extent. I remember Lisa Nandy talking about it in an interview a few years ago.

Here's an excerpt from the report:

Labour officials were seeking to undermine their own party's general election campaign. If that isn't grounds for expulsion, then I don't know what is.

Some of those implicated in the abuse are apparently in his shadow cabinet.

I can see that presentation now... "something something control the controllables. Something something non-negotiables."

Out of 60 applicants, this guy was apparently the best option. I'd give him until the end of the season but keep tabs on any potential replacements in the meantime.
