With the Swans playing away today why not get behind our sponsors and support Swansea University FC as they take on Prestatyn Town FC in the cup? This game brings together the leaders from the JD Cymru South and North leagues. Admission to Sketty Lane is £5 for adults, £3 concessions and £1 students. Kick off is 2.30 pm.
15 year-old midfielder Ben Chrisene came on to make his league debut as a late substitute in Exeter City's 2-0 win over Cambridge United today. He broke Ethan Ampedu's record as Exeter's youngest first-team player when he came on in the EFL Cup in August, Apparently Ben is being watched by some big clubs. We missed our chance with Ethan, and I don't suppose we have as much to offer now. Should we make a cheeky swap offer of Grimes for Chrisene?
Think my wife's car may have a slow puncture, Which companies in Swansea will consider repairing a run-flat tyre? The pressure warning light came on a couple of days ago and I found the pressure was about 30 PSI compared with 35 PSI on the other side. Now the warning has appeared again. The car is only 7 months old and the tyre has never been deflated,so that there is no possibility of sidewall damage from having been run flat. However, I understand that many of the national chains won't consider a repair. Does anybody know who will?
Stephen Dobbie's hat trick against Montrose today took his season's total to 43 goals, breaking Queen of the South's all time record. Okay, the standard might not be the best, but that is a great achievement for a 36 year old. Good luck to a man who served us well!
One thing that concerns me about the "rules-based international order" that the EU promotes is the way the space for political decision making in nation states diminishes as more and more things become matters of law.. In other words we lose our ability to ask our politicians to change things because they are no longer matters that national Parliaments can change. This is what the German philosopher-sociologist Jurgen Habermas called juridification - the colonisation of the lifeworld by law - and I really don't like it. In one of last year's best books Yoram Hazony writes that there are only nation states and empires, and I don't fancy being in an empire.
Stephen Dobbie hit his 33rd goal of the season today, against SPL opposition as well. Too old now to come back, but could probably still do a job in the Championship. Good luck to him - served us well in his time.
They were under the cosh for most of the time but got a goal on the break. Third clean sheet in a row and Rangel had a very good game. I thought he'd gone a season too far last year, but dropping down a league seems to have bought him more time.
Did anybody have any joy in getting a refund for the Preston game, when the stream was non-existent for most of the first half and lagging at other times? I used the contact facility to leave a message asking for an extra game free as compensation, but didn't receive the courtesy of a reply. I subscribed for a month at £14.99 but because of the 'dark markets' restriction it looks as though I'll be lucky to get one more game. Not really very good value, and very poor customer service.
The quality is not the best, but we'd probably struggle to better either of these teams. Pablo is still as good as anything we have in midfield. In hindsight one wonders why we paid over £15m for Clucas, when we could have re-signed Pablo for peanuts,
On the bench again for Tottenham today, even though Kane is out. Sad to see a player who could have kept us up getting splinters in his bum week after week. Thought he did well against R. Madrid when he did start.
If anybody wants to see how Paloschi is getting on, he's playing in the Inter-SPAL game just being broadcast on BT Sports. He's with SPAL on loan from Atalanta. It is half-time now at 1-0 to Inter, and Alberto has just put an excellent chance to equalize wide.
