Pointless posting against Lisa and her acolytes, she is never wrong and never admits when she is proved to be wrong by inconvenient facts.

At no time have I said I wanted a lockdown, I have from the beginning suggested proper quarantine with test, track, trace and more tests with social distancing, masks glasses & gloves.

Which of course is the South Korea, Singapore & New Zealand mthods.

The fact that the UK still has totally open borders regardless of where the person comes from is an absolute disgrace.

So you do not acknowledge today's data that Transplants have been drastically reduced?
Or that patients go to hospital with an illness and get COVID while in hospital and die?
You do not acknowledge that Operations have had to be cancelled because the ICUs are used for COVID patients or because the patients can't be put at risk of getting COVID?
In fact Royal Free London is cancelling some planned surgery from the 15th April. Their actual outpatient appointments changed since March 16th to telephone or video mostly.
You are London centric, try asking what is going on in Welsh hospitals, especially Singleton.
My own brother's heart op has been cancelled until COVID has finished.

Private hospitals were not setup to assist the NHS from the "start" the deal was not brokered until 21st March and came in to effect on the 23rd.

Neither half truths or bollox.

As for Nightingale, if it has not been needed why has it had patients since yesterday?

Other countries have shown how it should be done and it not how we have done it, but then you believed the government were right from day one.

I am glad you decided to ask that question.
Unfortunately it takes joined up thinking by the government and the heads of the NHS, which no longer exists.
First of all it needs a government that does not listen to 2 experts who advise to go for herd immunity instead of proper quarantine, test, track, trace and more tests.
Next it needs both the government and the NHS bosses to understand what quarantine and "isolation" actually mean when referring to infectious deseases.
What should have happened is that either all the COV patients should have gone to the new ExCel type hospitals or all the general hospital patients went there.
Not leave them mixed together in the same hospitals with all the nurses & doctors also mixed.
Now we have the situation which I posted way back on the thread that critically ill patients will no longer get the life saving operations & treatment that they will need.

Why wait until they were overloaded.

I did not say you were making excuses for the Chinese, but for our government.

The world new that the Chinese started building their new hospitals in January because they needed them and they finished them in the beginning of February.
It took us 9 days to convert ExCel.
So we could have had it ready by the beginning of March.
Stop making excuses for them, they learnt nothing from watching Wuhan, assuming that they even did actually take any notice.

You are spot on and the stupidity started right from the start.
Not taking notice of what was happening in China, South Korea & Singapore.
Believing the WHO.
Listening to so called experts who thought they new better than countries that had suffered epidemics.
Not using proper quarantine protocols and shutting our borders (still not shut).
Not introducing test, track, trace and test again, because we didn't use proper quarantine.
Not preparing enough ie PPE, building Nightingale hospitals before they were needed, based on what happened in China.
Putting COVID patients in General Hospitals with all the other patients needing care because there was nowhere else to put them.

I agree it is a worry and appears possible.
The other thing that is a concern is the 51 South Koreans who had been cleared of the virus have had it come back and either re-infect them, or it was hiding like a cold sore, herpes and shingles.

There are 2 curves, new cases and deaths.
The deaths lag the new case by 1 to 4 weeks, so the deaths we are seeing now are from new cases at least a week ago.
The curve to look at is the daily new cases here.

Where is the 350M a week that the NHS was promised if we left the EU ?
at 17:01 6 Apr 2020

How much of it would £15Billion have bought do you think?
That is half the Foriegn Aid for the last 3 years.
How about another £9Billion a year over the last 3 years, that is the amount of subsidies paid to so called "renewable energy"?

You see it is all about priorities, preparing for the future and protecting NHS workers was not a priority until now.

I am sure that £42Billion would have helped quite a bit, how about you?

Let me correct your last statement for you.
Even the WHO are still hiding what they are learning about it.

No they would not" have been a misallocation of resources for those times" as they Government was warned 3 years ago that the country and the NHS was not prepared for a Pandemic and predicted exactly the results that we have seen.
They ignored the advice and here we are playing catch up.

Of course they did, they invested in test kits, test stations, tracking, masks, isolation hospitals and ICU.

"Also, are you suggesting that the British NHS was more poorly prepared to deal with this than other countries' health systems? Please give examples to support your argument. "

Yes
Germany
South Korea
Singapore
Hong Kong
And any other Asian country that had recently experienced SARS & MERS epidemics.

This.
The last thing anyone seriously ill needs is a dose of COVID on top that would kill them in a couple of days.

Which is why The COVID patients should be in one hospital and all the other patients in another.

But still paying in as was agreed.
Since 11pm, 29 March 2019,when we should have left, the UK has paid the EU £12,388,921,945.67. This could've paid for 137 new hospitals, 538,648 nurses, 470,149 policemen, or even the repair of 233,753,244 potholes. A single pile of what we've paid in £20 notes would be 43.49 miles tall.
I will leave you to work out how much we have paid since January.

Drunk tanks away from the hospital with a medic presence for those needing it would be a good bet.
Dump them there till they sober up.

The flu period has finished, so maybe none are the flu.
Did you even bother to read my comment.
The ONI has only captured a few days of COVID19 deaths, ir 177 deaths, since then it has increased by 4200.
The world statistics are for 2 months of increasing rates compared to 12 months of the flu.
