Countdown to the end of Democracy in the UK 23:28 - Nov 10 with 1293900 viewspikeypaul

And like a typical anti democracy remoaner he decided the will of the people should be ignored the minute the democratic result was in total fecking hypocrite 😂😂😂😂😂😂

Despite it being voted in to law by the commons the spineless two faced remoaner MPs have totally abandoned any morals and decided to ignore the will of the British people.

It will be remembered and no election or referendum will ever be the same again in this country.

The one thing that will come is a massive surge in the popularity of UKIP or a similar party in the future who stand for the 52%.

Happy Days.

I’ve worked on oil refineries and power stations for 17 years. H&S is through the roof and you can lose half a day sometimes just waiting on permits. I’ve never heard anyone ever blame it on the EU. It can be annoying but safety is paramount.

Agree completely.

I'm the annoying bastard preparing and handing out the permits.

I'm sure it is a pain in the arse but it's worth it if we all go home to our families at the end of the shift.

It’s available from the National Archives as that twot Clase says .

Or you could look at the version of it presented to, and archived by the EU here (I think it’s the same one although lacks reference number):
https://www.cvce.eu/en/obj/white_paper_presented_by_the_uk_government_to_the_uk_

See para 28 for the exact comments quoted in that Richard Corbet piece: “if the political implications of joining Europe are at present clearest in the economic field, it is because the Community is primarily concerned with economic policy. But it is inevitable that the scope should broaden as member countries’ interests become harmonised […] What is proposed is a sharing and an enlargement of individual national sovereignties in the general interest”. Last part in italics I haven’t found, but it’s a nightmare to navigate on a phone.

They also recognise the inevitable move towards “economic and monetary union” in that para 28.

Seriously, read it. It’s fascinating and lays out the best case I’ve seen for why we joined in the first place and what we wanted from it. And most of it has come to pass, including the UK’s opportunity to aid development of accession nations (increases the market on our doorstep) and to shape the project (which we did whilst limiting the cost to us like no other nation could manage, no thanks to Blair’s and then Cameron’s meddlings).

No arguing with that.

I don't understand how anyone can think otherwise.

Except "we" didn't get a chance to read it back in the 70s did we?
So our's was not an informed choice.
For your information I have read at least 3 times, so I know exactly what it contains, everything that the anti EEC voters feared back in the 70s.

You really are dumb at times, I first came across it in an article by Booker in the Telegraph in 2012 here

https://www.telegraph.co.uk/news/worldnews/europe/9233096/Europe-alienates-us-al

and then it resurfaced in the Express in 2018 here

https://www.express.co.uk/news/politics/883540/FCO-30-1048-Brexit-EU-secret-docu

and then again in the Express in 2019 here

https://www.express.co.uk/news/politics/883540/FCO-30-1048-Brexit-EU-secret-docu

I also read the 2002 analysis by Richard North when the document was released, but not at that time here

http://www.eureferendum.com/documents/FCOsovereignty2.pdf

I had a link to it in my Firefox Bookmarks, none of those links now work.

The links to the original pdf document do not go to it as I showed in my first post.
Perhaps you should go back and read what I wrote.
Would you like a few more links that don't work, because I tried quite a few before I found a very poor copy of the original pdf.
I am thankful for lwg for providing a link to a similar document but not the original.

Not as dumb as dsomeone who thinks that document doesn't highlight the future direction of EU integration, but there we go. Takes all sorts I suppose.

Are you completely dumb then, that was the very reason that I highlighted it.
Because it was witheld from the public.
Many consider it was Treason by Heath, taking us into the EEC under false pretences.

No, no, no. It's the "remain" parliament, that despite being remainers didn't force through a referendum nor revoke A50.

This is beyond parody now.

Blame the pro-Brexit Tory MPs who voted down Teresa May's exit deal because there weren't enough unicorns in it, or something. If they had voted with her the UK would have been out of the EU several months ago.

Bollocks/Politics, it's all very much the same!

Ok, lets take it this was the brexit election, brexit was the biggest decider for voters, in that case all that's been said about people changing their minds and remain being the majority would be, well, bollocks. Unless remainers couldn't put up with it anymore and fell on their swords.
We couldn't keep going in the same direction though. Actually we weren't going in any direction, we were stagnating, drowning in a cess pit of the politicians making.

Something had to change and now it has, massively. Maybe we should stop arguing about brexit now eh? Because there's no stopping it now. In 10 years we'll know how it's gone and no doubt (assuming this site is still running) somebody will say I told you so, whichever side turns out to be right.

Just my opinion, but WTF do I know anyway?
