Great for fans..

We should be doing this to Hull this weekend.

Sadly commercially we are pretty clueless all round.

Great memories of train footie specials to matches in the 70's and 80's

Did we have a special train to Portsmouth in the FA Cup I remember?

Well done Spurs I'd love us to do that

Watford away would be a good upcoming game to do it

Why would we ever charter a train to London for a Saturday 3pm kick off?!

How would it work to get to a place like Watford? Would the train go around London, and is there a station there big enough [for say] a 1000 fans to get out?

Watford Junction. 5 min walk from there

Their station is far bigger than Port Talbot Parkway. They even have a special path a bit like Millwall direct to the ground.

Went to Southampton on a special many years ago as allegedly no coaches allowed. There was one coach there but only for a selected few.

Took ages, not the best of trains, frog marched 2 and from the stadium by the old bill and the train was dry.

Pros and cons depending on how it's handled.

Although Spurs fans going from Euston to Port Talbot Parkway would suggest a detour to the Midlands enroute.

Turn left at Willesden Junction onto the North London Line then right onto the Paddington main line.

Yeah, but what I'm asking is if there is a line around London they could use. Its not like hanging a left at Chiswick and a right at Friern Barnet.

As mentioned earlier in the thread. There is a link line between Acton and Willesden Junction which I think is mainly freight but is does connect the Euston and Paddington mainlines. So a train could come off at Acton over to Willesden then up the main line to Watford Junction.

When I lived in South London I used to get the thameslink service which ran from East Croydon Kensington to Watford Junction for Watford away. There was also a service to Bedford which got you to Luton directly from South London. Most London stadiums have mainline stations nearby apart from maybe Spurs.

Went on the football special to Ipswich, for that 2-3 game. Easier and, yes, dry.

And Palace at Onion Park.

Sure there've been others too.

Yeah, I removed the link across London to E Croydon. I knew someone who used to come down from up North, working on the Chunnel who used to come into E Croydon direct I think.

I remember going on one to QPR for a League Cup weekday match - think it was the same year we beat Spurs.

Just read the article the train is only going to Port Talbot Parkway then it is buses to the Liberty. What is all that about why is the train not going to Swansea then a 10 minute bus ride via the dedicated bus route. I can see horrible congestion getting from the Liberty to Port Talbot.

Ideal scenario would be Landore Halt.

Swansea wouldn't even think of this, no money in it for them.
We have the worst and thickest commercial dept in the premier league.

Police don't want any fans conflict at Swansea station if a large amount of away fans arrive.

probably easier parking for the coaches as they can park up on that dual carriageway hill in Port Talbot as opposed to stacking them up around the High Street in Swansea
